FINAL INSPECTIONS FOR NEW BUILDS

A final home inspection for a new build is a comprehensive assessment conducted by a professional inspector in accordance with Internachi's standards of practice once the construction of the home is complete and before the buyer takes possession. During this inspection, the inspector thoroughly examines all observable aspects of the home, including its structure, systems, and finishes, to ensure that everything is in proper working order and meets relevant  standards.

Key areas typically inspected during a final home inspection include:

  1. Structural integrity: Checking for any signs of structural defects that are visible at the time of inspection.

  2. Electrical systems: Verifying that all observable electrical wiring, outlets, switches, and fixtures are installed correctly and functioning as intended.

  3. Plumbing systems: Inspecting all visible pipes, drains, faucets, toilets, and water heaters to ensure proper installation and functionality.

  4. HVAC systems: Assessing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to ensure they are installed correctly and operating efficiently.

  5. Interior finishes: Examining walls, ceilings, floors, doors, and windows for quality of installation.

  6. Exterior features: Checking the exterior siding, roofing, windows, doors, and any other exterior features for proper installation and weatherproofing.

  7. Appliances and fixtures: Testing appliances, such as stoves, dishwashers, and water heaters, as well as fixtures like faucets and toilets, to ensure they are installed and functioning correctly.

After the inspection, the inspector provides a detailed report outlining any issues or deficiencies found during the inspection. This report helps the buyer and builder address any necessary repairs or corrections before the buyer takes possession of the property.
